Rural Wifi - Healthcare
When you think about basic services, accessed by using a local intranet, using a basecamp
connected by a satellite, offering services in remote and rural locations where internet and phone
capabilities were previously impossible, a whole list of ideas come to mind.
In our previous post we focused on education, and how providing this Rural WiFi technology could
change countless lives of educators and students in these areas.
If you could see the bigger picture then, imagine what this picture would look like if we included
services relating to the healthcare sector.
Many rural areas and people living there have access to a local clinic for minor ailments. Where
bigger health problems are concerned, these people often have to travel quite a distance to get
access to hospital type care. The queues at either of these facilities often start early morning with a
limited intake before you are asked to return another day.
But what if...what if our intranet service could change this practice. What if government could
provide free information and health related tips? What if you could book your visit to the clinic, get
your referral letters online instead of fetching it at the clinic before going to hospital?
What if nurses and administrators had access to live broadcasts on dealing with procedures,
treating patients and patient information. What if our Intranet could sort patient information and
allow for better record keeping ?
All of this is possible. Just another way that we are aiming to connect the unconnected. What
makes us different from all other providers is how we offer access to this intranet platform. Users
still have the choice to access the internet as with other networks at a charge but automatically
gains access to our rural WiFi by registering to be part of the community driven Intranet service.
And what makes this great is that this has already been tried and tested in even the most remote of
places. People who previously had no access to technology and communication now finds
themselves informed and connected.
Slowly but surely this technology is bridging the gap between the connected, and the unconnected.
